Green Belt defence pushed aside for 2nd Referendum debate

At last night’s Council meeting, I had a motion to present that would protect our green belt from overdevelopment. Westhoughton and Chew Moor have seen far more than their fair share of house building over the last few years and there is no end in sight after Bolton Council, which is run by Labour, admitted it does not have a 5-year housing plan.

Sadly my motion could not be debated until the next Council meeting in January because we had to deal with the Liberal Democrats trying to force a second referendum on Brexit.

Now we will have several more months where nothing can be done to prevent this onslaught of speculative over-developments. A sad time for our community.
