Progress on Bolton Road Safety Scheme

Recently my colleagues (Cllrs Martyn Cox and Christine Wild) and I visited Bolton Road for a “street surgery” where we discussed traffic congestion, speeding, crime and antisocial behaviour on both Bolton Road and the surrounding streets. The issues raised by the residents we met, and their views on the possible solutions we presented for those problems, were invaluable.

Since then we have been in discussions with Bolton Council to put together plans and costings for the solutions that were most preferred by residents. Those plans are currently being drawn up and when we have them, we will present them to the residents again, for further consultation.

In the mean time, we have discovered the source of several issues of crime in the area. You may have read in the Bolton News on 17 October that Cllrs Kirk-Robinson and Wild discovered two drugs stashes in the retaining wall by the south-side field. We reported this to the Police and have stayed in contact with the Police since the incident, to keep on top of this problem.

Your Conservative Councillors remain committed to ensuring Bolton Road is a safe and secure place to live; and we will continue to work hard on your behalf to that end.
