We got some excellent news about an increase in policing numbers yesterday. Ten new police will be on the beat in the borough from April 2019. These officers are neighbourhood policing officers, so you should see them out on the streets.
This comes after I wrote to GM Mayor Andy Burnham to highlight the problems we have in Westhoughton due to low police numbers. I’m glad to see the GM Mayor has listened to the concerns I raised.
I’ve made policing a priority for Westhoughton and I’m very pleased to see progress so quickly.
