90% of Bolton’s Pubs Don’t Act on Child Gambling

I have a long history campaigning against child gambling; as several of my previous posts show. So when I read this latest press release from the Council about how more than 90 percent of Bolton’s pubs didn’t stop children gambling, I was outraged.

If these pubs can’t uphold their responsibilities to ensure children don’t get hooked on these awful machines, how can we continue to allow them to have gambling machines on site?

That may sound like an extreme reaction to some but the question is absolutely valid. The first duty of anyone who has a licence to place gambling machines in their venues must be to ensure those machines are not accessed by children. If they can’t manage that, how can we be sure they are following any other gambling laws?

Serious questions need to be asked about this. Bolton’s pubs must do better.
