Easing Congestion on Park Road

Over the last few months, residents on Park Road and the surrounding side streets have told me about the problems they have parking outside their own houses; and also being able to leave their houses by car because of the amount of traffic. I’ve met with a number of residents on Park Road, Alma Road and Albany Fold to discuss the problem and hear first-hand what residents’ experiences of the situation were.

The main problem here stems from the double-yellow lines on Park Road. They were put in when this part of Park Road was the main road but since Cricketers Way was built, most of the traffic goes down there. Now instead of assisting traffic flow, all these lines are doing is making life a misery for local people.

So earlier this year I asked the Council’s Highways Department to look into the feasibility of removing the double-yellow lines. I  am pleased to announce that the lines will be removed as part of the upcoming traffic flow reorganisation in the area.

This is great news for local residents. Now people going to the shops, the dentist or the church won’t have to park down side roads and block in residents. Everyone wins.
