Machinima vlogging

So today I decided to try my hand at a little machinima because everyone should give everything a try. Well, I say everything. I don’t recommend giving crack or crystal meth a try. Use your own judgement.

For those who don’t know, machinima is the process whereby an animation is created using computer-generated imagery that is being generated in real time. It’s a little like acting by proxy; with the computer producing the movements under the direction of the actor (or actors, depending on the number of people in the shot and the complexity of each character’s movement).

I didn’t do anything fancy for my first attempt at machinima however. I just sat my Second Life avatar on a sofa that would animate her (I didn’t want her to be sat perfectly still because that would look more than a little freaky) and then I talked to the camera. Basically, I vlogged using a computer-generated (and far prettier) version of me. Strike one for imagination, you may say.
